The Prayer of Salvation

The Scripture above shows us clearly how salvation is received and made real in a person’s life: by believing in Jesus Christ and confessing His Lordship.

A person may go through life believing that Jesus is the Son of God, yet remain unsaved. The Bible says, “the devils also believe, and tremble” (James 2:19)—but they are not saved. Belief alone is not enough. Salvation comes when you believe with your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Receiving salvation is the greatest miracle of all. It is greater than anything you could ever hope to be, do, or have in this life. The moment you believe in Jesus and confess Him as Lord, you receive the very life and nature of God. In that instant, you are awakened to the Fatherhood of God—you become His child, with a new identity and a new life in Christ.

Salvation is not earned by good works. The Bible tells us of Cornelius, a devout and generous man who gave to the poor and lived a morally upright life, yet he was not saved (Acts 10:2). God sent a message to him saying that he would hear words “whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved” (Acts 11:13–14). His good works did not save him—he received salvation through the Word.

Right now, you can receive this life and become a child of God.

O Lord God, I believe with all my heart in Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. I believe He died for me, and that God raised Him from the dead. I believe He is alive today. I confess with my mouth that Jesus Christ is the Lord of my life from this day. Through Him and in His Name, I have eternal life; I am born again. Thank you, Lord, for saving my soul. I am now a child of God. Hallelujah!
